That's the kind of behavior that results in the loss or severe limitation of free/reduced rate travel privileges for all of us.

If the company finds out that an employee has been selling/abusing travel privileges, the reaction is often to punish the entire pilot group.

For example, there are some companies that stipulate that pilots must travel with their "buddy" on board the same aircraft because a few pilots made the unwise decision to sell their buddy passes. Be very careful going down that road...

Just buy a ticket. You can show up in rattie old clothes, unshaven and stinky and unless you're too stinkey, they have to give you a seat. :) What a concept!

Yo, my company - Mesaba - no longer allows buddies to travel alone because others were *selling* their buddy passes on eBay. So it ruined it for the rest of us. Now I have to chaperone my friends when they want to go somewhere.

Perhaps people outside the industry don't understand how it works.

So there it is then. . .

I was thinking that perhaps this is not the forum for that kind of thing and it would appear that my peers are in mutual agreement. Well put to everybody.

Also--it's pretty ridiculous to be posting something like this in a public forum, which doubtless has the occasional managerial lurker. If there is any evidence in your "prior posts" as to who you work for, please do your pilot group a favor and edit your post to say something like "anyone know of good hotels in Egypt."

Your one post on here could be enough to make your managment effect a provision that you have to fly with your buddy.

And make sure you never take buddy passes with you to bars or strip clubs. Always a bad, bad idea.
