For the original question, sorry to say that the interview process has recently significantly changed, so I can't help except to reinterate a search on pprune.com "Middle East" section has a bit of gen.

For the interview best read "Drinking the Kool-Aid" by several authors on varied web boards...

The Orwell bit is better saved for after one gets hired.
