Living in China

I hear alot about working in the Middle East. How about in China? Anyone with a well balanced report, it would be greatly appreciated.

from what I've been watching here and PPrune tread very very carefully in choosing who to fly for. Now as far as living in China, is a different story and would probably take a visit to see that it is highly polluted, driving is insane (nearly lost my life on several occasions), food is nothing what you think it will be. The cost of living there is relatively cheap but now that the dollar is tanking it doesn't get you quite as far. I absolutely loved visiting and I've been through many cities there but after those visits pretty much convinced me never to live there. That is purely my perspective and you may find someone else saying otherwise. Now if you're talking Hong Kong or Macao that is a whole other ball game.

My friend, With regard to the current state of our industry and the US economy, a "plan B" never hurts...

China

Living in China is not bad depending on the city your in and some contracts actually allow commuting. Be very carefull which contract you choose. There is a great demand of A320 pilots and the salaries are pretty attractive. If you need more specifics please PM me and i ll be happy to assist you.

China

It would appear that most attractive packages($$$$) are in China. How bad is China in case I decide to sell my soul. How about Chengdu? Xian? Schezen? I'm handy with chop sticks but refuse to try grasshoppers on a stick.

Xian is a very nice city. The biggest problem with China is to obtain a visa. With the Olympics comming in oder to get a visa you need an unbelievable amount of paperwork. The food in China is interesting, but there is plenty of walmarts, chilies, starbucks etc etc. overall not a bad place to be. Again choose a good contract and decide if you want to commute or move there.

Thanks icarosF1, don't have pm capability yet, please email me at "[email protected]". Much appreciated as I'd like to bend your ear a bit on China.

Thx, Rich
