Is EK still hiring DECs?

Hi everyone,

Does anybody know if EK is still hiring DECs? I know their website still accepts applications for the position but is it just for their data bank or they are actually hiring at the moment.
And also regarding their re-application policy have they re-invited anyone for a DEC position?

Thanks,

A300skipper

I hear is pretty hard, they rather hired as F/O. Is not because of TT or PIC, as I understand it is company policy.

According to the road show last month, EK has stopped the DEC program. They feel they have enough co-pilots that are qualified to upgrade to Capt.

DEC's are not being hired at the moment...EK has many experenced fo's awaiting their commands !! wish I could tell you otherwise...huge interest of US pilots to join..!!

Sort of correct and sort of incorrect. If you have the hours, have wide body international glass time and some training deal (line check airman, sim instructor or the like or a TRI or TRE on the above type a/c) you may be considered for an interview. They are not actively recruiting DECs, but......Again, it is sort of a week to week deal.

True, there are a great number of qualed f.o.'s waiting for upgrade. Rumor has it that some 777s are delayed because of vendor problems at Boeing. Could slow some 777 hiring down. When the 380s come, things will start changing again, especially for the f.o.'s awaiting their upgrade on the bus.

The current policy is if you had interviewed, no matter what the position, then there is a two year wait before being looked at again.

If you're interested, fill out the online app. and take the application number to one of the roadshows and speak with one of the recruiters for the "that day information".

A friend of mine and former AA 737 Captain just last week had his final SIM ride. He will start his line IOE this week. He was hired May 5th as a DEC for EK.....

Yes, but PL interviewed a long time ago and had a long notice period before starting. There are still a few trickling in that way.

There is no outright recruitment for DECs like there was a few years ago up until last year. Some are getting hired, but the recruitment is for First Officers now. You won't see any advertisements for Captain positions. As Skyone says, a highly qualified guy might get looked at for a DEC position, but no more of this nonsense hiring B737 and A320 domestic pilots into the left seat of a B777.

B777 upgrades have gone over three years now. They'll be approaching four before too long. Still not bad in the big scheme of things, but this is how it's going to be going forward.

I'm still predicting DECs on the Airbus by sometime mid to late next year. Unless they decide to park the entire A340-500 fleet, then maybe it will wait until 2010.

....and yes, there is a possibility that the A340-500 fleet will get parked. It's a very inefficient aircraft and it could be replaced with the A380s as they come on-line or as more B777-200LRs arrive.
