be cautious, Nigerians are notorious for frauds/identity theft. Arik air sent me an email regarding employement two years back, they wanted to me send them my credentials and addresses. Think before you send, good luck

Flying in Nigeria

If anyone is still looking for information on Arik Air, I am currently a 737 training Captain for Arik and working in Nigeria. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

I can tell you a few things that I know to be facts.

The company does pay pretty good. Captains in all aircraft types are all paid the same, FO pays is based on experience as an earlier posting said.

The scheduele is 8 weeks on 4 weeks off. The company pays for your transportation (both ways). You are paid your full salary while on your 4 weeks off. Housing is paid for, food is included. Transportation to and from the airport is provided with an armed guard.

The company is providing SOME upgrades and type ratings for pilots that have worked there for some time however, it is not a part of your contract so I would not expect it. If it happens, be happy. If you go, go with the expectation of a good paycheck, lots of flying in the aircraft you are already typed in and maybe an opportunity to grow with the company. They currently have 18 aircraft with 16 more coming by the first quarter of 2009. That is a lot of growth.

Those are the good things. The bad thing is, it is still Nigeria. The company makes great efforts to keep you safe and for the most part, if you follow there guidlines, you will be safe however, the precautions made by the company leave you feeling a little like you are in prison. Apart from work, you really can't go out of the compound you live in. That can be a little umcomfortable.

Again, if you have any more questions, leave me a post, I will be happy to answer them. Including, for those who are considering coming to Arik Air, there are good recuriters and there are bad recuriters.

I passed the assessment in London in Sept. 2008. We are told that CRJ hiring is on hold. What do I need to do to get the B737 FO job?

Thanks.

I am going to Arik on 1or 2 Nov as a 737 CA. What should I be aware on initial arrival? Customs, airport, hotel. etc. Thanks.

Hey Capt,

I live in the Southeast US and have an assessment scheduled with Arik Air for the 737. Looks like you haven't posted in a while. Do you still work for Arik? Is there any chance we could touch base with regards to your prospective of working there? And/or if you have any recent assessment information. Thanks a lot. Look forward to talking to you.
