Anyone have any info on disqualifying limits on blood pressure for the japaneese airlines??

In the states, one can fly comercialy if you have it completely under control with medications. It really is a non issue.

How is it in Japan?

How about for some of the "contract" flying? I know the airline you apply with gives you one of there own physicals before they hire you. How bout if you are on medication for elevated BP will you still pass their physical if your BP is normal with the meds??

I thought these med limits are ICAO acceptable. Figured they apply to Asian airlines too since they accept US ATP (ICAO ATP)

That link is to the JCAB medical requirements, translated in English. Ch1.

Medical Standards
The systolic pressure must be lower than 160 mmHg and the diastolic pressure must
be lower than 95 mmHg. Furthermore, the applicant must not have orthostatic
hypotension accompanied by subjective symptoms.eck page 27.

4-3 If an applicant's blood pressure is controlled within the standards by taking antihypertensive drugs listed below and no side effect occurs one month after
continuous dosage, he/she is qualified.
(1) Diuretics
(2) Calcium antagonists
(3) Beta-blocker
(4) ACE inhibitors
(5) AⅡ receptor blocker

While these are the JCAB requirements, your initial medical by the company may be more restrictive.

The only thing that matters in Japan is what the JCAB says. It doesn't matter if the rest of the world does it differently, in their eyes, the Japanese way is the only way.

The FAA medical standards are blood pressure no higher than 155/95.
