Picking up with the last post:
-- TP How do you feel about me and many others getting shafted by HR regarding upgrade?!! BS does go on here in EK and I don't consider myself as a whiner. What EK have done to me and others are completely unacceptable. |

What EK have done to me and others are completely unacceptable. The issue that is being referenced here by my classmate is one that is a negative at EK. HR and the Psych department have a little bit too much say in the upgrade process. They have delayed or stopped upgrades. It happens to a certain percentage of pilots, although I couldn't even guess how many, I know three personally. Two have gone through extra psych counseling and/or sim evaluations and are now in the upgrade course. Upgrades at EK are not a sure thing. About 10% of pilots who join as F.O.s don't make it through the process. They are either stopped prior to doing a course or they fail the course and go back to the right seat. TP |
Typhoon, how do you think EK would cope if military operations were directed against Iran? Does the company have contingency plans for the families and employees?
What system of justice operates in Dubai? I have heard of the case of a young lady raped by six nationals who were given only very light sentences and several were let off. Is this prevalent? I guess living in Dubai involves some risk management whereby you hope that these things don't happen to you and yours while you live there. |
TP , I was invited to ATL by the contractor but could not attend as I was on a trip. Should I be contacting some one at EK to tell them I'm still interested or is my Email to the contractor sufficient...JW

I honestly have no idea how they did the selection in Atlanta and who was handling the scheduling. I would probably try to contact someone in EK recruiting. TP |
Emirates Open House Impressions?
Can anyone who attended the dog and pony shows in ATL or LAX give some impressions of what they saw there? Who spoke on behalf of Emirates? How was the turnout? In short- what did you think?

In attendance was an average of around 25 pilots or so at each session. More in the beginning and tapering off the last round, I was told. Some curiosity seekers from training at DAL, since it is across the street and some ready to move. I was impressed with the former USAir captain in that he had been at USAir for over 20+ years, a check captain, etc. and appeared to be very happy with his decision to be at EK. Hope this helps. S1 |
Thanks Skyone.
I already work for Emirates so I was just wondering how much of a 'full court press' the company is doing to get US pilots. I think the company is really hoping for a large interest from American pilots because the US currently offers the largest talent pool of unemployed/underemployed pilots in the industry. I was also wondering if there was a large differential between what what being presented at the shows vs. what is actually happening over here in the desert. Sounds like they did some straight shooting and that's good. -Buford |
