Are they hiring you as a captain? There is an initiative in India to get rid of all ex-pat pilots as soon as they have enough qualified Indians. There are so many Indian pilots looking for FO jobs right now, and the government wants to put them to work. I'd hate to go out there and have to go home against my will because they found an Indian pilot to fill my seat.

First ask yourself.....How hungry am I ?
Flying in India is a whole different arena....I have been in India many times and its one place I don't care for...Initially seeing India is an eye opener and there are some cool things to see, However, India is third world country...There is quite of bit of poverty....its very dirty, pollution rate is way up there, driving down the road you see people defecating in the weeds. Food is marginal..
Plan on being in the Hotel 99% time...
what else you want to know?

I've been there many times. Some parts of society are depressing, while others are fantastic!
ATC is very hard to get a hold of, with EVERYONE stepping on each other. I hope you are a "fast" listener.
Have fun, you'll never forget the experience.
cheers,
fbh

They think they speak English but they speak ‘Indish’ instead which is a heavily accented version of it – very hard to understand especially since they tend to speak really fast.
It’s a beautiful country but you haven’t seen true wealth or seen real poverty until you’ve been in India.

make sure if you go through a crew leasing company that they guarentee the pay for X amount of years. if they do kick you out then at least you can still get paid while being back in the US.
Hope you like the smell of cury. as it eminates out their pores.

I think that Giggity said it best! "Every square inch of that country that isn't paved is toilet." I flew out of Delhi and Bombay, to every major city in that country. Pollution, Poverty, Fatal Traffic, Over Population, people who do not know the meaning of Soap or Deoderant! ATC literally trying to kill you! Good luck understanding their English! Go for a walk and enjoy the multible piles of human defication on the sidewalks. Try to understand the morality of a civilization that condones public displays of homosexuality, but considers it illegal to display heterosexual affection in public! Remember, Richard Gere was indicted by the Indian Attorney General for hugging and kissing the cheek of an Indian actress in public! It is a Religiously and morally warped society! You will never want to leave the hotel when you are off duty! Enjoy "Incredible India!"

Dude listen!
you better off hanging around the U.S. for another three years until things start taking a big turn around in this industry. They will be a lot of hiring coming up the next three years, and airlines will not choose you to fly for them but you will choose who you want to go fly for. Going to India so you can fly, believe me you don't want to do that....
