Default Shanghai Airlines\Skymark

Does anyone have any info on either Shanghai Airlines or Skymark (Japan) I have an opportunity to interview at each but really know nothing other than what recruiter has told me.

Thanx in advance!

PPrune is the best place to look - several threads. www.pprune.org/ . South Asia and Far East.

Normally I agree with EK, but if you are comparing Skymark to Shanghai Airlines I'd take the latter. The money is actually quite reasonable, and there is no need for five months of training. Shanghai, save the air quality, is one of the best cities in Asia, and I've spent time in most. Compared to ANA I am not sure as I know everybody there is pretty happy.

I work for an outfit that was totally trashed on pprune, which is why I take anything written there with a big grain of salt. The money is excellent and we're treated very well. The dude on pprune made the site useful for personal reasons, one of which was to stop expats taking upgrades that he thought were his; nice. But that is often the way with pprune, so just be carefull what advice you take . . . including mine of course. We may see the world differently.

I don't know much about Shanghai Airlines but Skymark is definitely not the same as the ANA companies, conditions and pay at Skymark leave a lot to be desired according to three of their F/O's that where recently hired by Air Japan. If it was an opportunity with ANA I would agree with EK and tell you to come to Japan in a heartbeat but Skymark? I would do some more research about Shanghai Airlines and ask about the possibility of upgrade with both those companies

Good luck

The good news I would be coming in as a Captain. The contracts, appear at first read, that they are about the same in terms of pay and days off etc. I just want to make an educated decision which is never easy when you are on the outside looking in.

I also checked pprune and found nothing really.

Once again thanks for everyones info it will all go into the pot to help me make a decision.

Cheers,

Cargo

Hi Cargo,

I've got an opportunity to interview with Skymark. Have you learned more about them recently?

Cheeres,

Ben
