Help Wanted: MD11 Pilots

Ethiopian Airlines needs additional MD11-Typed pilots, FOs. they are all fixed for captains. If you have an MD11 type, PC current within 3 months OR are willing to get recurrent at your own expense (yeah, this sux, but...). It's a 1-2 year deal out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. And it pays out approx $100k per year to an offshore account exempt from US taxes.

Any of you (soon-to-be-furloughed) FDX, UPS, World pilots need a short term high pay gig to ride out the depression in this could be it..

Any interest, I have the forms and email address you need to contact. This is no joke for real.

Been there on my way to Somalia...makes Grand Forks look grand! Does have great hummus and pita bread. Times are tough but I'd do a lot of research before I'd accept employment in that area of the world. JMHO

tjsatter. . .

I think what people mean is; thanks for posting what looks like it could be a very interesting position to sit out the storm and make some reasonable cash. Seeing as it's an MD-11 I imagine your in Europe/Asia a fair bit anyway?

Well done mate, and thanks,
Koru

Do you know some secret that tells you UPS and FedEx are furloughing or are you yet another person who is full of **it and trying to give a lame post some life?

VERY, VERY questionable!!!! :( Be careful.

To quote Sy Simm’s… “An educated consumer is our best customer”.

The quote lends itself to this situation. If one is contemplating employment in any part of the world with an unknown contracting agency, due diligence is essential by the prospective employee. I am not saying that this job or contractor is a charade … just be cautious. After all, couldn’t jumping into a potentially regrettable situation can create real financial desperation?

As a side bar… a friend of mine with FED EX is as curious me and I’m sure all that read this thread about allegations concerning potential layoffs. So TJSATTER… do tell.

Give the guy a break eh.

I agree that any off shore contract should be looked at carefully. I would be very much concerned about crewing agencies with no credit; not that many have any to begin with (if this is sweet then it's with the Airline proper as I understand it). But, I'd be very careful in thinking that my position was sacred, even at the best of the western employers. Yea, I don't get the FedEx/UPS comment, perhaps a bit pessimistic considering the company kept. But, good profitable airlines around the world are starting to look at their options. The actions of corporate America as of late have proven that nobody is really safe when the ivory towers bonus is on the line. But hey, if your solid then your solid. . . right.

Look, maybe the comment about FedEx/UPS/World wasn't on the mark, but give him a break. For all you know he could be offering information that could be of help, to you, in the near future.

The offshore contract world is very different from what one might be used to at a major carrier, but it might be a nice lifeline for those who are in need at the time.

My last thought; if you all are so secure in your jobs, then why are you looking here, at this thread, in the first place. . . let alone commenting on a post like this. Bored?

If your looking or concerned, then talk to the guy. As rotorhead so eloquently instructed me, if you don't like it ignore it.

But hey, you guy's have nothing to worry about, so why even mention it.

According to the APC rules, the site is open to the public to read, establish threads, respond to posts, and express one's opinions as they desire.

Well anyway... perhaps expats or locals alike are content where they are. So tell me, what’s the harm in seeking new adventures… bored or not?

There are agencies advertising, on membership websites, for pilots that have been established purely to obtain personal details for fraudulent purposes. There are membership websites do not qualify their advertisers. But at the end of the day who is responsible to ensure the agency is legitimate? A contracting firm worth their salt should have no objection to a back ground and credit check.

At the end of the day is it unreasonable advice for job seekers to be careful?
