Any "inside" info on hiring at EK for 2009? I tried to find some info on PPRUNE and almost had an anxiety attack. Thanks...

They are interviewing now, with classes to start in Feb-I think they already have a pool of guys, though. Heard 130 for 2009.

Etihad is hiring, and good, if U have 1000 glass jet. flydubai is also hiring.

The company interviewed pilots in December and continues to interview. Offered class dates to 34 PICs and plans more classes throughout 2009. The company plans to launch service in mid-2009. See the FltOps.com Web site for more details. Recruitment of SICs will start later in 2009.

Emirates Airline
Emirates is accepting pilot applications online. The company hired five pilots in December and is now contacting applicants for screening and expects to interview 64 pilots in February. See the FltOps.com Web site for more details.

Apparently the 100 or so poolies plus a few will be needed to staff this years aircraft, with about 140 for next year. Course schedules are supposed to be finalised by Wednesday, with the first call/emails going out to the poolies sometime thereafter. The first of the poolies will be merged into training courses begining in March.

There may be some cherry-picking, with the CRJ/ERJ guys in the pool having to wait until later on for their call. But that is undecided at the moment.

Anyone interviewed this year will be placed in a pool, with an expected start date of later in the year or beginning of next year. Apparently, EK wants anyone in the pool to either be currently flying or at the very least have flown in the last 6 months, which is beginning to become a problem with some of the guys that have been layed off or furloughed.

That was this morning. Considering how much it's changed over the course of the last 6 months, it'll probably change again.

Be careful with Flydubai. Information concerning their T&Cs on the initial offering via e-mail are different from what is presented at the interview.

They e-mailed a package to those who were short listed for a short notice interview. In the e-mail, there was no mention that you have to fly 80 hours a month to get 80 hours of pay. There was no mention of a $25,000 training bond, even if you are current qualified and a TRI/TRE. The medical insurance presented in their e-mail was much more generous than presented at the interview too.

When brought these conflicts of information to their attention, they told me “Take it or leave, as these are the terms… nonnegotiable.” Fair enough.
Not a good way to enter into an employee/employer relationship.

They ceased interviews for a while do to the Boeing strike. Have not heard if they are actually interviewing or the revised delivery date for their aircraft.

Emirates is your best bet rather than Flydubai.

Things were great in the ME when oil was $100-$145 a barrel. I'm surprised they have not cancelled new hire classes. $35 a barrel oil does not bode well for the ME. Just a heads up, one of the head honchos at Fly Dubai is an ex-Skybus guy.

That's a little different from my information. 100 or so new-hires with time in the "pool" not really being a factor. The difference: new hire classes not to start until June-July. Starting in February, they are moving a bunch of Airbus pilots to the Boeing. Of course this was as of last week so depending on the source, Kenny could be right.

Can somebody confirm if these salaries are correct for Emirates?
They supply housing also correct?

I know there's a lot of assumption and dis-information at the moment about what's going on with the poolies, interviews and new courses but that info is direct from a contact in HR, yesterday.

I'm starting to wonder if anyone actually knows what's going on.

For you guys thinking about EK. New rostering rules out this week. Max days off in a month-12. Max days off in a row-5. Max days added to any vacation through smart bidding, no matter if you are in your top bid month or bottom bid month-5. If your scheduled hours flown for the month keep you under overtime then AD (available days) will be added to your schedule. :mad:

In other words, to make sure you don't get more than 12 days off a month, AD days will replace any off day. Basically a poor man's reserve-FOR EVERYONE.:mad:
