Emirates or Etihad Roadshows?

Is anyone aware of any Emirates or Etihad road shows in 2009? I head they were going to start recruiting soon from a friend over there.

Thanks

There's still a ton of pilots in a holding pool from the last series of roadshows of last August. They announced some hiring later this year, but it's a long joining process.

Also if you are out of currency they are not interested, and this means flying the actual plane, not a sim.

I highly doubt we'll be doing any road shows this year. Increased productivity by current pilots, people swimming in the pool and lots of qualified people out there... I would be very surprised.

I think there will be no Etihad road shows this year. A whole bunch of guys sitting in the 320 pool and plenty of 330/340, as well as, boeing guys out on the street from all parts of the world. Hopefully things will change next year or when the bulk of the deliveries start comming in towards 2011.

unfortunately they are done doing the road show at EK for a long time. the road shows that were done last year were actually the first of their kind. you can do some reading on other forums and you will find that EK did not have a great deal of success from the US RJ/CRJ pilot group, those that made it through ( as a group ) required a lot of extra training and the head of ops did not like seeing the bill for all the extra training. the current down turn has hurt the CRJ/RJ pilots and helped EK as there is now 1000 + CV's with Boeing and Airbus. sorry for the bad news. Fly Dubai is a totally different airline, dont know whats going on there

What was the big problem with the CRJ/ERJ pilots requiring extra training?

Well, most of the ones who have been furloughed were hired in the last two years.... a time when most regionals were hiring people with the ink still wet on their multi commercials. Teaching them enough to pass an SIC type ride in one of the baby jets may be one thing, but to actually teach them to fly a heavy aircraft will take longer than with somebody who has already flown them... besides, if the rest of the industry was hiring the same type as I've been seeing... they have attitude problems, chips on their shoulders, and think they know everything and refuse to learn...
The Ipods in the ears, lack of proper uniforms, and backpacks over the shoulders doesn't help either.

I heard rumors from a buddy that works for them that they were only going to do a possible road show in Europe, you know how those rumors are though.

Etihad is hiring 80 pilots this year. Quite a few are senior first officers from Virgin Atlantic who are current on the 340, plus many from Air Mauritius who are getting rid of expats. I guess the two and a half to three years for upgrade is the attraction with things at Virgin being very stagnant.
