But the Chinese are already so small anyways so really, weight and balance isn't an argument...unless Yao is on the plane...then he's gonna throw it out of whack.

Why don't they just make the seats smaller and push them closer together. If you take out all the arm rests I'm sure you can get 7 across. No need to stand up.
