How are things going over at Avianca? Anybody have any news?

AVA, is pretty stable, and still growing despite of the strong competition on their most profitable routes.

Are they doing any hiring? Who are their direct competitors? Just curious.

Not sure about hiring, but from what I hear they are still receiving new airplanes, I know someone that just started a year and a half ago and is supposed to be upgrading from the F50 to the F100 soon. So I would think that is pretty decent news as far as progression within.

Not upgrading but transitioning, Avianca was pretty stagnant for many years and only recently have their pilots been advancing. Good solid company if that is what worries you. Not sure if they are currently hiring but I would assume they are because they have a lot of new airplanes coming in.

AVA is Colombian. Yes they are hiring, but it is quite a long process. It takes about two months and that is without counting the time that it takes for the license conversion. Must be Colombian.

My apologies for some reason I had AVENSA in my head, my mistake. Here is a thread with information on AVIANCA that is going on in PPrunre. Doesn't sound too appealing though, that is the reason that I am not pondering the Idea of returning to Latin America anytime soon

Avianca just recently purchase TACA out of Central America. New 330's coming but only Colombian pilots can fly them. TACA is a whole different animal.

YES they are hiring at least two more classes this year... I have a couple of friends transitioning from Fokker 50 to Fokker 100.... not a very good place to work if you are not ready to call everybody commander, ask permission to perform your duties (f/o duties), and if you are lucky they let you fly a leg but you have to be grateful and say thanks for the "chance".... well at least that's what my friends told me...I guess is a good way to build CRM lol...
