It'll be interesting to see how the media handle this - that this is, essentially, a Rolls-Royce issue. While the RR Trent may have an issue here, it's hardly just Rolls. Note the pic above of the uncontained GE burst.

How will Airbus point out to the public that this is not their product that failed? Without ticking off RR?

...and point out that the A380 wing and pylon DID hold up to the burst.

Sh1t breaks, it happens. When are people going to accept that there are no absolutes? Move on...

This deserves a little more attention than just "it happens" these engines are all relatively new and they haven't been in service long enough for cumulative damage due to metal fatigue, I think that the grounding of the fleets at Singapore and Qantas is well justified

Not all that interesting, but here is an inflight video by a passenger.

Good point but I think it's widely accepted that the most failure prone time for any engine is the first few hundred hours after build or overhaul.

It will be taken seriously by all involved. But, the incident will soon be forgotten by the public as nobody was hurt.

They're already having fun after the pilot was heard announcing to the passengers a "techinal issue". Uh yea ya think? Pilots are funny sometimes.
