Looking for a job oversees
I'm a 500 tt 20 multi commercial pilot and a U.S. citizen. I apologize if this question is constantly asked but what are my chances of getting a job with a foreign carrier in any country oversees? What kind of airline/charter company would hire someone with low time and if not right now, is it possible in the near future? Thanks.

Maybe in the distant future, but not near. You need an ATP/ a type rating/ and at min 500hrs in type. So I would say your chances are about zero. |
Companies have hired with your time, and even less (250TT) but you need a JAA license and the right to live and work in Europe.

Unless you're talking about Europe 3-4 years ago. Which today is completely irrelevant. Basically what your options are is to look for some place in Africa that nobody wants to work for. Honestly speaking the industry after this crisis, and the crisis before that, and the crisis befoer that, is completely saturated with low-time pilots looking for a job. Most will sell their soul for one, actually, and by doing so under-cut all the rest who are doing it right. |
PCLCREW, you are thinking only about positions that may apply to your qualifications, not his. I have heard of several operations that hire very low time foreign pilots in Indonesia. I flew on Merpati MA-60 between Bali and Lombok and the FO was a young 20 something Aussie. Upon further talks with my friends in Australia, supposedly those type of operations are rather popular among the low time Aussie pilots. So, you might want to look that direction if you really want to get a flying gig overseas. Would I personally trust my life to their day in and day out operation...... probably not. But it would be a hell of a story to tell if you make it out!

However if you are willing to spend 30,000euro to work for a dirtbag company like EasyJet, then that is another story. |

Yea I mean I'm young, have low experience and I'm just looking for a little adventure at this point. It doesn't matter which airline or country I'd be flying out of. I'd be perfectly happy flying right seat in a King Air for awhile as long as I get some decent time and experience.

I meant applying for a job, in reference to what you said about 250TT. Unless you're talking about LCC. Which I don't know of any who are taking 200h guys with out TR. There are companies that may advertise that, but those are hardly competitive mins.
