Default Canada questions!

Hello guys.

I am wondering if anybody here as any general information on Canada.

What is the pilot job market over there like at the moment?

What companies are hiring at the moment?

For a pilot with 2,000TT with time on jets, and Boeing aircraft, what are the perspectives?

Any trends on the future that seem to be talked about?

Much appreciate the replies, and any information you guys can give me.

Canadians speak with an accent and inexplicably end every sentence with an "eh?"

Canadian fighter jocks believe that they fly better than our local boys. And that they are more sexy and charming.

If everyone on this site is as sexy and charming as VAGABOND, then you've come to the wrong place for valid advice.

With 2000 hours, you may have a chance to get on with Jazz for their Dash8s. I heard they are hiring afew guys now.
Overall, the Canadian pilot market is pretty tough, which would explain why at any foriegn airline, you will find MANY Canadian expats. Good luck.

Without the PR Card or Canadian citizenship you can't be considered.

Things are slooowly turning around as Air Canada, Westjet and Air Transat have recently started to hire.

However just remember, the three greatest exports of Canada are beer, strippers and pilots.....

Good luck.

There were companies looking for guys to work in Africa for their UN contracts. Sounded like a pretty good gig, if you can deal with flying in Africa and being gone for 1-2 months at a time.

There were some decidedly good things too! The Guess Who and Gordon Lightfoot come to mind. And back bacon...don't forget back bacon.

I used the Culhane book, but I found the Canadian AIM to be the best source in studying. Here's a link to download the AIM:

TP 14371 - Transport Canada Aeronautical Information Manual (TC AIM) - Transport Canada

Good luck
