Emirates - Fast Track Upgrade
I'm working with an airline in Europe right now. As things are not looking bright I'm making backup plans in case things take a downturn.
I have all the requirement for a DEC position, except for the 1500 hours on EK type. As I gather (and from the careers web site) EK is not hiring DEC's.
Can anyone please tell me what the requirements are for accelerated command and whether it is presently being applied (or is envisaged to be applied in the future)?
Thanks for any info.

I do not believe it is being applied at the present. Things always change, though. Some have come here with the thought that there would be an accelerated upgrade, only to have the policy changed under them. So expect so spend at a minimum three years in the right seat. Have not heard of any rumblings to counter that.

Skyone's post is correct....
Not long ago, there was an accelerated command policy for pilots having previous command time who would start out as FO to "see how the EK system works" before being put in command. Well shortly after they were hired, the contract/policy was changed and those pilots found themselves with broken promises... somewhat the norm here at EK.
No DECS in the future from what the B chief pilot said in gnd school a bit ago and also mentioned we'll be back to the 3 year upgrades on the Boeing due to number of aircraft coming in in the next 40 plus months. Evidently, it's to be at minimum 1 per month starting in May/June and in a few of those months, it will be 3 per month.... and that's just the Boeing!

There is a search function on this web board. Trying typing in "Emirates" in the foreign forum then read all the threads to date. That should help answer your questions.

I'd go with 7-10 for someone hired today.

You will see what i mean when you experience the EK training department. Something needs to be changed in training to attract good instructors who give a crap about their students, not just guys who like to have power over other peoples futures to go along with their huge egos.
