Hi guys, I am taking a stab in the dark here... So like we all know Dubai living is quite expensive. I was wondering if there are any EK pilots on here who have APC cards or even any pilots who dont actually have one and would be willing to maybe let me pay the membership for them? Once off annually or if you are in Dubai we can do it monthly but can work the logistics out if there is anyone out there. It would be amazing as my wife and we only get a day off here and there together so would be great for Pool and Beach days ect.

Thank you

I am not sure how you would be able to use the card since each member is issued the card which has their picture on it?

I was an EPC member (it became APC) and gave up the membership. For me it just wasn't worth it for the cost versus the utilization benefit.

EK Plantinum card is a much better bet.

I'm from EU my kids go to a british school in Spain for which I pay 1200 Eur. a month ( for both). For what I've seen and researched, a british school should be covered by Emirates allowance plus I ( if I make It) should get a villa too, so I should be making around 6000 Eur. to "spend" and save, am I right? I'm I missing something? I think that with 6000 Eur I should have a good life for my family. I'm not into driving a Porsche, buying a boat, playing golf and going out every day but I still think we should be able to have a little fun with the kids every now and then and save a good money.
Am I missing something??
Thanks to all married guys from EK for your answers...... and those not married too.
I had a friend who went over thinking all the things your thinking. There was only one flaw in the plan. The schedules are brutal and he never saw his wife and kids. The days he was home he was to tired for it to be quality family time. It was divorce or come home in his case. Try and get a good look at schedules post month as flown. You might find it eye opening. It's not the total block hours but the time away from base that did him in.

What's the current time to command upgrade at the time being? And is the tendency increasing or decreasing? I see they're also recruiting DEC but also heard that they are losing trainers at the moment.

I have friends there that went to upgrade training at close to 6 years. Upgrade is not necessarily seniority based and requires you to pass an in depth interview in order to be allowed to upgrade. That’s if you meet the arbitrary age requirements. 33 for 777 captain or 35 for 380 captain.
Also upgrade now incurs a 4 year $40,000 bond.

I recommend reading up on EK over on Pprune and asking yourself why they need a bond to retain a 777 or 380 captain.
