Skymark interview
Did the interview in Seattle last month. Very civilized and lasted about 15 minutes. They want to know why you want to work for them but mainly want to listen to the way your talk and see how you present yourself.
You will be working with a wide range of Japanese F/Os, some very experienced, some not. Attitude is very important as is deportment. Your skills are judged in the simulator.
Simulator is B737. Straightforward ride in the pattern. Mostly hand flown, especially the engine out sequence. The are looking not at operating procedures, but your ability to keep the aircraft within the defined heading and altitude parameters. Always say WHAT you are doing, then DO it!
Mostly very good people with many expatriates. All the expats now assigned to the Kobe base (only a short train ride from Osaka). Interesting flying with excellent equipment (from the remarks from my friends).

Don't know where the next interviews will be held, but apply through Parc Aviation and they will be able to hook you up.
From my friend in Skymark, they need in the order of 50+ Captains. Pilots have received a bonus the last few years. Airline financials appear to be solid though there is some exposure to risk with their introduction of wide-body aircraft on international routes.

There are better paying contracts in China right now and both commuting and non-commuting contracts are offered. You have to be 737 NG qualified for China where Japan will train you as they don't recognize any other countries licenses or training. Having lived in Japan for 2 years and now China for 2 years I find it much more open and diverse here in China. Shenzhen, Hainan, Xiamen and OK Air are all desperately hiring.
