I might just have to start using my rostered time off for something useful then. Though just walking into an office is not really in my nature, I'll just try to force the issue somehow, haha

A lot of these airlines are totally understaffed for backroom functions like employing pilots. When I joined MI, you could email and ring and fax until you were blue in the face, especially as an FO, but when you walked in the door, it was a different story.

You may actually want to watch out for Cathay. The training bond is written strongly in favor of the company. You may end up owing a large sum of money when all said and done. Be careful.

For low time how low do you consider low time that these airlines will accept?
Also, do they hire US citizens? Thanks for any help. :) |
Does anyone know of any companies in Asia that will hire experienced F/Os into Captain positions? Korupilot? Dominican?
Thanks. |
Hello Olympic, Air Asia & Skymark will be places that I would put an application in for sure. Now if you have cero PIC time then it is difficult, but if you have some previous PIC time but not on the airplane you are currently flying, (IE, you have a lot of CRJ PIC time and A lot of SIC time in an A320 for example) then your chances are higher of getting a DEC position.
Another option would be to go to a place that has an upgrade program, again, Air Asia, JetStar based in Singapore I know that is upgrading pretty fast, Air Asia Japan for what I understand is already interviewing expats and you can expect a quick upgrade there, here at Air Japan we have an upgrade program at about the 4 year mark, upgrade of course is not guaranteed at any of these places, but if you put in the effort necessary, it can be done for sure. |
Thanks ....!
