Aircrew ID card as a part time/contractor
 

hey all,

I am hoping to get involved in part time contract work ferrying aircraft.

My previous airline in Asia (obviously) required me to return my crew I.D card.

Does a company contracting you for a ferry flight provide you with an ID card? Do the FAA issue them for contractors?

The FAA does not issue IDs.

You need to check with the company you hoe to be employed with regarding ID cards, or other forms of identification required to gain access to the SIDA. They will have precise information.

I've ferried aircraft from all over the world, and many had different requirements. Some easy, some very arduous.

It's pretty time consuming to obtain ID's for every contractor that comes through the door. One is usually expected to have their own ID when doing contracting. If you are going to do ferry work or any other contracting, please do yourself and any future clients a favor and obtain your own ID, and don't leave home without it. At some airports it is imperative that one has an ID or they won't be granted access to the ramp. IBAC is one company that provides ID services as well as Universal (if you have an account with them.)
