SF pilots tend not to have flow control delays and fly 50 hours/month on average. True most of their flying is at night, but the daytime flow control delays of China domestic flying would be soul destroying. SF reportedly has a very relaxed flight deck culture. There is one member who used to post here working there now, not sure if he looks here that often now though. I know more, but it's difficult to describe. Let's just say that if my current gig does not work out I would look very seriously at going to SF.
You can go to SF directly, no need to go through an agency.

Not true according to my info, plus they are advertising directly in the back of Flight International.

TP: Thanx for your info. I will be in CGO in a few days, for a few days. It is my 2nd trip there. We have just started going there a lot. It is the first place outside of HKG/PVG that we stay overnight a lot.

I believe SF has a lot of "allowances" instead of straight up pay. Be careful with these as they might be reimbursements.
An example of this would be a housing allowance. You sign a lease for 1000 USD (6000 rmb) a month. The next day the agent comes back and has you sign a second lease for 150 USD a month. The owner uses the second one as the "official" one for tax evasion purposes, but it is the only "official" one that they get stamped and authenticated. Guess what, that is the only one you get to use towards your housing allowance.
The airline might also not pay any income tax on these allowances, which can affect your tax owed (if you are American) back home.
I don't know much about SF, but I signed 2 leases in China and they both did what I described above.
