Default VMC circling restriction

I'm having my VMC circle to land restriction (EMB-145) removed at flight safety next Friday (7/11). The cost is $2400 for the one day course if you go alone but they knock it down to $1750 if you go as a pair.

If anyone is looking to get their VMC circling restriction removed to fly in Asia please hit me up. Its 11:00am til about 4pm so easily commutable.

Wish I could've went with you for this, but the timing and funds wouldn't allow it.

Any feedback on how the sim went? Process? Leads for Asia flying? Etc

Thanks and congrats

I did this sim on the 145 about 6-7 years ago to remove the restriction when applying at a start up regional in China were 'desperate' for pilots.

Sim is pretty straight forward, my friend and I had a good instructor. There's no real jeopardy here so it's very relaxed. We briefed a localizer circle to land approach in detail before hand, discussed speeds and profile, then executed in the box. We each did a couple with different levels of viz. That's it, signed off, paperwork done and new license came in the mail couple weeks later.

The job didn't pan out, they just weren't ready to hire expats at that time. Spent a lot of time getting documents stamped, signed, notarized, verified by the embassy etc. Every little thing was a process. Was offered another job and the rest is history.

I have this restriction on my Certificate as well. In a couple months I will be going to FlightSafety for a new type rating. Does anybody know if they can get that removed when I take the type ride? I should just call FlightSafety, but I figured somebody here probably knows.

Quite honestly, if your company is paying for your type ride, I wouldn't inquire about having the restriction removed at that time. But that's just my opinion.
