If you are considering Qatar, also look into Etihad...they are based in Abu Dhabi.

Last I heard is that Etihad is significantly slowing down recruitment for now. Package in QR currently is a lot stronger, but on the other hand Doha is boring if you compare it to Abu Dhabi IMO.

Where else
Thank you Atpcliff for that. Can you possibly help us with some others?
Where are Ethiopian, Korean and Vietnam airlines? They are also all hiring but I, and apparently a lot of others, don't know where they are located. Imagine my surprise when I found out Etihad was not in Qatar. I mean I could have just looked at the vast amount of information on the www and read where they are but thank God we have someone like you to point out, yet again, accurate hiring information.:p What would we do without Atpcliff? |
Not to be a smart ass as I have heard this before but could you give some examples of ridiculous firings? Sometimes I'd hear the same story from different people, and each time it was told, it would be slightly different, and as time went on, the story would get more and more farcical. That's all I can tell you based on my personal experience. |
do you know if in qatar the medical certificate is easy to get? the same that faa? or is hard as China??

For the Residence permit, they do test for HIV, Hepatitis C, and do a chest X-ray. No one in any job gets an RP without passing those tests. You'll notice that there is no medical in the interview process. If the medical was a big issue in QR, then they would do it in the interview before bringing you to Qatar to work. |

About the same as the FAA. The initial medical is a little more stringent. One of the guys in my group had high cholesterol (which ran in his family). They put him on two cholesterol drugs for two weeks until it came down, they retested him and he passed. But that is only something they test on the first medical. No one else in my group of about 16 had any issues. I've been through the Chinese medical, and Qatar isn't anything close to that. And the First Class Medical in Qatar is only done once a year, not every six months like the USA.

EASA and Transport Canada are also now one year for first class medical up to age 60 unless engaged in single pilot ops.

Hi there, could anyone inform me as to the approximate salary (per month) of a SO on the A320 fleet with QA please? I've been asking around and trying to get a rough idea of what to expect. Thanks in advance
