Separating cargo from pax is only a possibility at the moment. Exactly what the bases would be, and the terms and conditions has also not been finalized. If it happens, I believe it will go very senior.

Seniority? When did that ever mean anything here? They guys who know the right people will get it, IF it even happens.

Seniority seems to mean more under Helmut. I just learned today that upgrades are now being done by seniority. But you're right there is considerable doubt that it will happen. I heard they costed it out and discovered the current plan would cost the company a million USD a month.

is it possible for an A330 FO at QR upgrade to the left hand seat provided he meets the requirement for fast track wide body command? Or does he still have to go through A320 command first? If so how long will it take to be back on A330?

Anywhere from at least 3 years to 10 or never. Many many, many A330 FO's with lots of hours in the line for an upgrade, some going 320, some 330. I would not come here seeking a "quick" upgrade unless you have particularly good friends behind the scenes, in which case you wouldn't be on this forum.

FYI people I know personally have been denied chances at an upgrade for reasons like a sick call X months prior to the selection process. And then a recent upgrade I flew with last month couldn't even string enough words together in English to tell me what part of town he lives in.

There is no "normal" here, some people get incredibly lucky and others incredibly unlucky. That's how it is here. I don't know your situation but if you have a steady job at home don't leave it to come to Qatar.

Not necessarily. In the group I hired in with, no one was on the 320. Guys with 737 experience went to the 787, with one exception that went to the 777. Some guys with 320 experience went to the 330.

From a friend at QR, that's a very senior schedule. Not happening at least for a few years. Plan on being away most of the time. Average 5 days off per month. Forget about commuting. You have to live there. Upgrades could be 5 yrs, could be never, constantly changes. Also having a few hickups/sk calls can eliminate you from a upgrade when the time comes. Yes there is a training bond. He would not recommend going to QR unless you plan on making it your last step. He also mentioned they're non union and could be let go even as little as a few sk calls. Unless you plan on staying down there he says you're overall better off in the us.

Above information is incorrect....on all fleets, the salary is as follows..

FO $13,000 per month

Captain $17,500 per month

Line Check Captains $22,000 per month

Chief Pilots $25,000 -$35,000 per month

Executive Vice President Flight Ops ( A Senior Captain ) $45,000-$60,000 per month plus Car and a Mansion with servants...

A320 pilots average 65-75 hours per month
A330, A350, B787, B777 average 60-80 hours per month
A380 average 55-70 hours per month

All pilots get an average of 15 days off..

I work here so it's accurate information...

A330Pilot 07-21-2015 08:10 PM

Upgrades usually go from right seat to left seat transition 90% of the time...Anywhere from 3-6 years on all fleets if you pass the upgrade interview...Many are career FOs who couldn't pass the upgrade interview...They can choose to work in Pilot Selection and earn $15,500 per month while flying once in a while...
