True to a point. Huge jam up in training right now. Airplanes sitting in SEA waiting to be delivered, 380 may be coming sooner than expected all of this gives time to upgrade deserving f/os. My understanding is that there will be no more interviews (for the time being) after April 1 for DECs. But those interviewing this month will still be in the hunt for DEC. May kick back in near the end of the year.

Can anyone give me a little insight into the sim portion of the EK interview? Any open sim or do they try to use a particular type? How well do they expect you to fly an aircraft you have never flown before? Do they sim night, wx, crosswinds?

-They use any open sim. Most likely the 310, but could be the 777.
-They keep the procedures generic. In fact, they tell you to use whatever SOPs you're used to.
-They may or may not use night and the x-winds are only 10 kts or so.

Overall, I think the sim is quite fair. No tricks or surprises and you definitely don't need time on type.

Hope this helps...

Thanks bus canuck,
Yes, any info helps. I'm headed out for an interview. C-17 background so I fly with a HUD as my PFD and center stick (no yoke). Got onto www.smartcockpit.com to get an idea of what A310, B777 look like. Went into the -17 sim yesterday and practiced HUD down flying, the ILS and VOR to 30L at OMDB. standard day, medium weight, day, clear, no winds. good practice working the crosscheck raw data, no FD/AP/AT instead of watching the computer fly.
What are the demogaphics of the pilots? 80-90% expat? Brits, aussies, canadians, americans(former military)?
Too bad I can't RON at Dubai on my next C-17 trip to the AOR and pop in to have a look see.
Family seems to be all for the move if I get the nod from EK. Not too much info on the housing that is provided. Can you offer more detail? Perhaps a link to a realtor site that lists villas comparable (location, layout, size) to company housing?
I've tried to get flight info from Jackie so that I can make reservations for my wife...no luck yet. I want her to go there eyes wide open.

Thanks Canuck
Maybe TP could also offer some info.
