Copa Airlines

Copa is after Avianca, but I heard Copa is looking for someone to buy as stake in them. What's the word on the street?

Regarding Copa

I am almost sure I read an article where Avianca hinted that Delta is the likely to buy shares and not Copa or United.
And yes they are hiring 129 FOs but not because of "expansion" as they advertise. This year around 120 have left and will continue to leave since Copa doesn't want to increase salary and improve other things.
Why leave? As an FO you will make around 3500 before taxes. Sometimes a little bit more if you fly Sundays or sell your soul to the devil. Do not count on saving or having a retirement plan. A 40 year at Copa Captain was not paid his full retirement and was forced to "sign" an agreement in exchange of his dues (there is more to it) . That just tells you how they treat or will treat the following senior Captains who pretty much built Copa and what to expect for non senior pilots.
Taxes are high and cost of living in Panama has increased a lot the last 3-5 years. I recommend this gig for JOBLESS pilots or those who want the type rating to jump to ME or ASIA. I flew here for almost 4 years. I Recently quit.

And they also told him not to forget that his 3 sons are pilots in Copa. A way of threatening him to not complain. I was there for almost 10 years. It sucks. Nothing to look forward to as retirement or compensation. You make the same every year. Sadly I had to leave my country for better, and it was well worth it.
