Leave Netjets for Southwest...

Easy decision for FO's. Much, much tougher choice for captain's...

Thanks for all the input.

Still not so clear for FO's either...

If SW continues to pay profit-sharing at present-day values indefinitely, If the FO has less than 11 years seniority at NJ, and If the FO is under the age of 44, then "Yes" it is an easy decision. (strictly from a "career-earnings" point of view)

Any variation of those three variables changes the math enough to where it's not so cut and dry....

Stand by for the biggest variable of all...a mandatory 65 age cap is finally coming to NJ. Very long overdue.

I'll believe an age restriction when I see it.

Imagine the lawsuits? Even NJASAP has indicated they may try to prevent an age restriction (unfortunately).

Part 91k will have it. So they can't sue :-)

If the FAA imposed a Part 91K retirement age, they would do it for Part 135 as well.

I don't doubt its being considered... but there will be a grandfather clause or some type of transition. If the Feds rewrite 121 to age 67, they will probably do everything in line with that.

But what do I know...

I don't disagree. But the idea is to 'mirror the industry'. If 121 is capped at age 65, so will 91k. If it moves up to 67, 91k will likely follow. This was the basis for the Exxon argument and that held up in court just fine. As for some type of transition, the shorter the better.

The days of grandpa flagrantly endangering lives because he's "just not ready to give this up yet" are rapidly coming to close. Good riddance.

Not to start another war but to be fair, NetJets is in its own industry. There's nothing to mirror, it doesn't mirror 121, hell it doesn't mirror other 135s...
