Anyone know someone who has made that switch as an FO to the Global? What is the QOL like on the Global fleet considering the different types of flying it does?
NetJets doesn't work like the rest of the private jet industry. The airplane usually dictates a bunch of things. For instance, the running saying is that the larger the airplane, the larger the suitcase, because you will be gone more. That doesn't apply to flying anything large at NetJets. Conversely, the assumption is that life is really good on those larger airplanes in the private jet world, that also doesn't apply to NetJets. NJA is an airline with private jets. Everyone is subject to the same schedule, and scheduling practices. Whether your week on the road is pretty nice, or a nightmare is completely at the behest of scheduling and the fleet has NOTHING to do with it.

For an FO who can hold it, it would definitely be an attractive opportunity to pad the resume and see a few places beyond the ordinary.

Contract flying is also growing as operators are having greater difficulty finding QUALIFIED pilots and a Global rating is certainly worth more than a Sovereign type rating.

That said, downgrading yourself from PIC on ANYTHING to SIC on the Global is, in my view, foolhardy. It seems as if that practice has slowed somewhat.

Right - never downgrade. Just referring to FOs who will never be senior enough to bid Capt on the Global but who might be able to hold FO one day...

if a 12 year FO is having to think about how "valuable in the market" the time they get at NJA is - then that goes a long way towards saying what type of future they are facing if they stay at NJA.

I know 3 FOs actively applying to the airlines. Only one buddy on the XL fleet intends to stay.
