Average hours?

Just finished my first year after IOE flying for a frac.

Had just over 500 hours; about 100 of those were night hours.

Is that about what everyone else is getting? Am I a slacker, or am I working too hard?

Hours sound about the same as I've done, but I did less nite. You're still a slacker though:D .

Sounds like you're enjoying it. Hope all is well with you.

Skydawg, it's in my nature.

Why do you think I chose this profession?

Does CS keep track of you hours like NetJets does, or do you have to track them yourself?

I think they do, but I don't even know how to access it. I track my own anyway. Interesting to be keeping a logbook again.

420 last year. Not nearly that much night.

I did about 525 from the beginning of IOE in mid March 06 to mid March 07 on the Excel.

Just curious, I see you're flight times aren't extremely high(I flew double everyone's except one, but pretty close), but what about the "Hurry up and wait" time? I've thought about the frac's, but honestly I hate just sitting at the airport all day. I'm a freight dog, so we're definately on opposite sides of the spectrum. Just wondering if the trade-off of the on/off 7/7 is worth it also. Those 7 day's off have to be great, but 7-straight is the hard part, being mandatorily away that whole time. Hopefully some of you have come from a similiar path as I have.

As a side-note, I have a 99% chance of being upgraded into a jet, as PIC, this summer/early fall when we will recieve our 2nd shiny new VLJ, so I'm not gunning for this immediately. For future planning, I'm always keeping my options open though.

Thanks

Nice times, I have flown almost 400 hours since the first of the year on the rj 700/900, wish I could say I flew 500 for the year.
Just thinking of what to do now, with skybus etc killing our profession. Fract's and cargo may just be where ist at.

Flight time at the fracs depends on what fleet you're in. The X flies longer flights and is busy. By comparason, the little Beechjet doesn't do much flying. "FBO black chair time" runs in spurts, but at NetJets, it's not like corporate where you plan to sit all day. You'll have days of "Hot Spare", but not often in my fleet.

You definitely have to come to terms with the 7 day trip. It will be your life for a long time. I don't think I would have opted for it while I had kids at home, but now that the kids are gone, it's not too bad. Plan on cutting the grass before you leave!
