JetLife,

Attrition is a hell of a thing.

It’s the tailpipe of an engine. Hiring is the intake.

Stagnation is a horrible thing in aviation and it’s during recruitment periods that the true health of the company is procured.

Sometimes, there are names on the attrition list that make others pause. Sometimes, the win is clear and there’s a collective sigh created... by a simple name.

I would add that while the linear thinker would conclude that one pilot leaving would require another to take his place to equal a zero sum game in staffing, sometimes just the fact that pilot is gone is something that made the company stronger and more functional.

Just by their absence.

Good job on the Netjets Learjet that landed safely in KDAL today.

Reported trim issues, did a go around and declared an emergency reporting "plane is uncontrollable". Things you don't like hearing on the radio...

If it was a Lear, it wasn't NJA.

They were flying using Execjet callsign, come to think about it, I don't know what type it was.

KDAL tower, 21:16:23Z. N354QS, It's a Phenom 300 not a Lear. Someone said on frequency "good job Learjet" or something like that after they landed, that's why I thought it was a Lear.
You can hear the other pilot jump on the radio saying "we are in an uncontrollable aircraft" at 21:17:41.

Yeah. There were 4 of us waiting to depart, and I bet every pilot had their hand on the throttle to get the hell out of their way if they saw something on the approach they didn't like.
Round 1 they were way unstable and way too high so they went around, that's when they declared. Round 2 they came in very hot and flapless. They rolled the trucks etc too. Glad they got it down safely.
