Default NMB assigns mediator to Flexjet negotiations

Another reason to vote Yes for IBT 1108! The National Mediation Board has assigned former Northwest Airlines captain Jim McKenzie as our mediator in section 6 contract negotiations. As a former pilot and Union activist, he is perfect for facilitating a new CBA! And we are at a point in the economy and labor supply that has never been better for pilots to negotiate great contracts! Don't throw that away!

I hope this will help pull some pilots heads out of the sand!

As a side note, I heard they are doing some training in the OCC to maximize efficiencies of a Duty Day! My bet they are gearing up for 16 hr duty days, and pulling out the old scripts about “Operational necessity, being a team player, your the only one that can do this trip or it will save the Company a $25000 charter”

And my response is your operational necessity is not justification for violating the regulations and putting my license at risk.

Their response to yours!

But it was scheduled within 14! So fly the trip! Because it is in the fom which is approved by our poi who is the faa's representative!

The CBA allowed us to be able to refuse to go over 14 hours

Yep, all of a sudden you will notice everyone of your trips for the day are running 30 to 40 min longer than the planning that was based on a% of Boeing winds. But you can keep going because it was reasonably scheduled! Even though you no you're going to be over 14 before you even takeoff.
MCBA says you don’t have to Takeoff! And the FAA POI is on record of saying if something happens you will receive a violation even if it has to be a 91.13 violation.
Don’t worry the company will stand behind you, just don’t look to see if anyone is there!

I received another email from woelke today. Mike Reed, another very senior captain, dissembled as to why he doesn't like the IBT. Has anyone else noticed that no junior pilots are represented in their anti union rants? It's all very senior captains. Pilots who can't go anywhere else or those who already have theirs...but not one of us junior pilots who will never get ahead without a union are represented. They talk about a "redo" of the seniority list. But the only redo management has proposed to the arbitrator would staple us junior guys, instead of the integration we got. I personally would lose over 100 numbers under their "redo". When you read these "dear colleague" letters, look to see if any mid seniority opinion is counted...it's not happening. Vote Yes for IBT 1108. Save your career!

Reed says that he was leading the union charge under Bombardier’s leadership several years ago. Ok, fine. But what kind of judgement problem does he have that he thinks we needed a union under Bombardier but not Ricci?!?

Reed never led any "charge". He had a few phone conversations with the IBT. He never formed an organizing committee and he never started a card drive. So that myth is debunked.
