Question FlexJet rumors

I have an interview offer with these folks, I'm pretty happy doing what I am now flying corporate and contract flying in Citations making 60+ with a lot of flexibility in my schedule. So they need to really wow me to leave.

I've heard rumors such as - You have to show up at the FBO early af like 5am and just sit there regardless of what time your first trip departs, and that's when your duty day starts no matter what.

Also they seem to brag about their uniforms but I've heard they are kinda crap.

Finally just curious if the PBS type schedule is truly better for flexibility in one's life or if it has you running like gangbusters and flying every weekend especially with low seniority.

I plan to complete the phone interview just to say hello and I have nothing to lose. Would love to hear honest input from a current or former FJ guy (or girl).

You will still have flexibility on your days off at FJ . If you are looking to upgrade quick you might be disappointed.we still have 17 Phenom SIC with hire dates in 2000 and 2001 who are still waiting, so a 2018 hire date might have to wait a bit. That is not counting all the SIC in the Challengers and “Legacy who will drop down to the Phenom to get the PIC slot. If you are close to the end of your career and just want to ride it out as an SIC it will probably be OK.

That use to happen but not anymore.I would be surprised if it did happen again

It is true they brag about the uniforms and it is true they are crap. The pant don’t fit unless you buy 2 sizes too big then have a tayor fix them. That is what most guys do. I did that and now they look and feel like pajama bottoms.

It all depends on money and QOL. If you want the money and don’t care about QOL then the PBS is for you.If you can live with less money but want a hard schedule then the 8/7 hard lines are for you. With PBS you can request a particular day off and most likely will get it but be prepared to pay for it with longer work line and fewer days off between them that month.

Good luck, One thing you should ask yourself is if your current job is that bad that you are willing to make a jump to a company that lost 150+ pilots in the last year and a half and just 8 this month alone.

Pilots left because airlines are hiring and/or they were tired of the union drama.

Or they didnt want any part of a Ricci run company. Those leaving for “union drama” sure ran like hell for union operations.

As for PBS, you’ll need to be super senior to enjoy it. I found that 16 days a flex month (28 days so count on 17-19 per calendar month) was the norm, usually 3 weekends a month on, and every holiday worked.

7/7 or 8/7 works around that to a degree, and you maybe able to get Super Dave to adjust your PBS schedule for you, but guys aren’t enjoying making their own scheds as Red Label Pilots because they enjoyed PBS.

Crew rot was a thing, but you’ll get enough min rest assignments that it’s not really feasible or necessary.

Plan to work hard. Plan to work often. Plan to be on the road on holidays. If possibly landing a CL seat and staying in some cool places makes that a good trade for you then have at it.

All true but you forgot about the very long upgrade time, many schedule changes in the middle of the night and throughout the day due to lack of pilots to crew airplanes, undefined rest rules, 4-5 leg days 14 hr duty days with min rest most of the time.

Flexjet was a company, when owned by Bombardier, was a difference maker in the industry! Today it has become a shadow of itself a trend setter for the wrong reasons and pilots are showing this with their feet. Most will tell you they had no intention of leaving while under Bombardier but with the sale to DAC that all changed and it has only become a pit stop.

Too many other jobs available today that are a better choice, but if your looking to build some time quickly and get out and move along this is the place for you.

What is the possibility of getting 7/7 as a new hire?

After IOE, you can choose a 7/7 or PBS. The 7/7 pays less than PBS. It's yours call.

When did this change? Last I heard after OE you continue on 8/7 or PBS until next schedule bid period.
