Spirit or better? Spirit’s new pay scale SMOKES Netjets.
And across the board pay increases aren’t even on the table for this interim bargaining session. Something called “incentive pay” as if we had an ounce of control over how much we fly. The company may be starting to realize they can’t find enough qualified pilots to fill the current spots let alone future hiring so they’re scrambling to find some kind of package that will attract and retain pilots.
The fact the company came back within 10 days of pulling the plug on negotiations speaks volumes.
Let’s find out if anybody is listening.

As someone who ended going 121 because netjets drug their feet with hiring a couple of years ago (i was in the pool forever) I can tell you that they need to offer more than just money/401k. I would love to go to netjets so i wouldnt have a commute but the schedule flexibility at a 121 carrier is way better than 7/7 at netjets. Id have to make more at netjets to compensate for the lack of flexibility.

That, my friend, is the reality. So commuting may not be so bad after all. They can throw a million dollars at me, but that still won't fix anything. CMH has to be fixed from the inside out towards us.
This was once a great job, and I'm hoping this IBI steers us back towards those ways. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

Lets put it this way, I commuted PHX-IAD for one airline, PHX-STL for another. Yeah, having a ticket is nice now, but I wasn't flying 4 freaking legs right after my commute at the airlines. You WILL fly at least 2 legs after your commute with NJA. Think about a 0330 wakeup to be at the airport 2 hours before your airline. Airline to destination, usually in a middle seat. Then go to the FBO and get the plane fueled, stocked, catered, and do all your flying prep (BTW you still aint had breakfast because the brief is too tight). Then the pax show up 1/2 hour early and now you go fly 2 or 3 legs with no time to eat your breakfast much less lunch. So you call the company and put the brakes on so you can eat he first bite almost 15 hours since dinner and YOU are the bad guy in their eyes.

That aside, I refuse to eat in the cockpit any longer. Choking in that tiny plane leaves no room for a Heimlich, thus its a death sentence if you choke up there. I'm amazed how many people would run a full day with no meals because they were not delivered and justify going on by eating chips from the stock. Kind of like the guys telling you how tired they are, but they won't fatigue.

I would say the ability to end the day is in your control via a fatigue, and you. An call in saying you need to pause for food, that’s really it. It’s kinda sad that a human has to tell the company to slow down just so they can eat, but that’s the way it goes. I wouldn’t say a tour is within the pilots control though, you have zero control over where you go, how many legs you fly, and when you start the day.
