Type Rating Contract Length for XO / Flex

I've been looking at XOJet or FlexJet as a short-term stop before getting a call for one of the majors.

Does anyone have any info on what length of contract is required to be signed in order to get typed and if that contact can be "bought out" if I were to get offered a job at one of the majors in say a few months?

Flex used to be a 2 year contract with a pro-rated pay back based on length of service.

Flexjet has no contract and XO has 2 years...

Two? I was told one year during my interview and ended up getting none. Where are you getting two from?

XO has a one year agreement pro-rated

Correct one. Pro rated. Enforceability in CA is questionable though.

I'm not sure. I have no idea in fact, but I am in a position to be competitive and that is my end goal. I don't think it's unreasonable to be optimistic yet plan accordingly if things don't go how I would like to see them go.

Assuming you have more than 20 years to go, the career earnings difference between any fractional and any non-regional 121 would be over 2 million, so more than enough to pay the penalty...

I 100% want to be with a non-regional 121. Just looking at some non regional alternatives until I get a call from a major (I have 1500+ TPIC and over 3000 total with almost all of it being turbine multi-engine).

Does anyone know what the Type Rating (training contract) is for NetJets by chance and if it's pro-rated as well?

Unless you're prior military, 3000 is no where near competitive for a Major. The TPIC would probably get you looked at by an LCC, but not a Major. Plus, they like to hire people from a 121 background so it is incredibly difficult to get hired without going to a Regional first.

It is good to be positive though! Happy Thanksgiving!

I am. All my time is heavy USAF time. Instructor and Evaluator in 3 airframes. We decided to move away from the military and towards the 121/135 world for the quality of life. For our family, being gone for short stints is much easier than months at a time. Knowing the schedule a month before is also a huge win for us.
