Th other poster represented that he gets a shade under two min rests per 28 day bid, and most airlines after 10am. I personally found that to be near fantasy, but perhaps FJ is now staffed back up to the point that they’re not running their people nearly as hard. Or maybe he’s only referencing exact 10 hours off and letting 10 hours and 23 minutes slide. You’ll have to ask him.
With regard to food, you will gain weight, and there’s nothing prohibiting you from ordering room service or having food delivered on the short nights. If you’re planning on sleeping in on day one, hitting morton’s Each night and getting in early on day last then you need to look a bit harder.
Lot of good people still there.

It depends some times you might get lucky and get home by 5:00 pm on your last day or as late as 11:55pm it all depends on where you finish your last flight on your last day and where you live.
I average around 8:00 pm and live at a major airport.
Days off are yours just turn off the company phone when you get home and then the night before you go turn it on to Check your morning airlines. I have never been called on my time off. You will be sent emails to ask if you want Overtime but just ignore it if you don’t want to do it.
I average 4 legs a day sometimes 3,sometimes 5, but most are around 12 hours duty. You could fly one five hour leg or five one hour legs in a day. It is always different.

From when the plane is shut down to your show time. So travel time to hotel, check in etc is part of your 10 hours off.

The presentation today at the aero crew news expo mentioned a few things I was hoping to get clarified here:
1. First year pay of $100+. How do they break that down?
2. They mentioned 4,5,6,7,8 day schedule option. Is that something you can chose? Or are you assigned a given length of trip?
3. Upgrade is under 2 years. Is that happening?
Also just looking for an overall opinion of the operation and quality of life on the road. Are you really humping it? Flying long days back side of clock? Is the equipment nice and a joy to fly?
Thanks

That is based on you being on the PBS schedule which pays more but changes every month. Some guys seem to like it but others will quit if they are forced onto it. Biggest complaint is working 3 weekends a month and major holidays since that is when people want to fly so that is when they schedule you to fly.
The 100k per year assumes you will make all of the bonuses which is hard to do and sometimes out of your control.
They will try to tell you that it is more then at Netjets but they use Netjets 7/7 schedule with no bonuses included while they show you the PBS schedule which includes more work days a year with all bonuses and per diem included.
You have to compare apples to apples to get a good idea.
You can choose a hard schedule of 8 on 7 off or the 7/7 which pay less and will never get you close to the 100k. But you will get atleast 2 weekends off a month and you your schedule 6 months ahead so you can plan trips, appointments etc knowing that you will be off for sure.
The PBS can give you the 4,5,6,7,8 days on but can also get you as little as 3 days off after 7 days work. They give you 4 off after 8 on.
You bid on it 13 times a year and get what you can hold. Being the junior pilot you can assume that you probably will not get what you bid. Some guys junior get what they bid but most don’t.
Yes up grades are now at 1 year, they are however in the Phenom. Many FO’s choose to stay in the Legacy or Challenger rather then go to the Phenom as Captain. Not sure if it is due to size of the cockpit or reputation of the aircraft.
When you come to work expect to hump it every day for atleast 12 hours a day sometimes up to 14 and some times only 10.
Very rarely do you fly back side of the clock. You might get lots of early mornings with show times at the FBO at 5:00 but you finish early by 5 :00pm or you might be on afternoons starting at 11:00 am and finishing after midnight most of the week.
The worst is when you do afternoon and late flying then they try to min rest you and get you on the morning schedule.
There will be lots of turnover in the coming months. From talking to lots of new hires most are only planning on being here a year and only want some jet time before they move on to career jobs. I would say 90% of the new guys who are under 35 that I have flown with are just here for a short time. Most have resumes out at the Majors or National airlines.
It is not as bad as some would say but also not as good as the recruiter will tell you. I know of 2 new hires who are very pi$$ed off that they were lied to by the recruiter and found out too late after they left their other jobs.

I mean I just got home 2 days early. Supposed to stay out until Thursday. I'd be happy to PM or text FNGFO the proof of that if he'd like. My bids average 4 and 5 days on followed by the same off. Not trying to make a sales pitch. Just trying to accurately show what I am experiencing here at flex. I also probably do just under 2 or so home reserves on the front end of my days each bid period. My average duty day totals at 9hrs 26 mins. That's cumulative from IOE start until now. I have been keeping a detailed flight and duty log spreadsheet to accurately summarize the real experience I am having. Back it up with facts not hysterics or anything else. With regards to crew meals, I've missed getting a meal or what I ordered 11 times out of just under 136 duty days. Pretty good odds. So long as you send in your watch list requests properly. Out of 16 duty days last month, I averaged 30.7 crew meals. Of those, the majority are lunch and the rest is split between breakfast and dinner roughly being the least. This month I've flown more on the back side of the clock so dinner will far out weigh breakfast at the end of the month. 4 overnights in Abacos, St.Maartin, and Jamaica. 2 canado overnight and 1 in Cabo. Last month I had 2 Canada and that's it. Comes and goes here in my limited experience and it's not always rainbows and butterflies by far. But it's also not the drab picture most paint.

If they’re willing to treat you that nice then roll with it. I still have plenty of friends there on all sizes of metal who are working their aces off.

You’re living the good life there at the moment. The only person I ever met who managed that kind of easy roll had hookups in the office. Maybe you live in an obscure area where air service connecting you to a place where the plane sits means you don’t leave until 10am. The fact that you average a lot of home reserve is a red flag for most current and former lline pilots. I don't know what the reason for your milk run career at Flex is. ATIS pretty much debunked most of it.

I wasn’t accusing you of having a hookup, just recollecting that the only person who had that cush of a run there did.
Life is good here. Will get better when the rigs kick in in June. And it may be upgrade to a C series which is suppose is sorta an Airbus.
