BOBO says he wants it down to 5 years with 85% of all pilots left seat qualified, gives him a lot of flexibility, and after being here a few months I see why he wants that, Even with 27 years in the Air Force I have never seen a more dynamic operation, schedules change hourly. Fleets going north of 500 planes by 2023. As a military guy the schedule here is nuts but if your into it its a lot of fun, makes 121 flying look like a bus driving game! Latitude is insane, autopilot at 400 feet on takeoff to 44,000 feet and then decent to ILS intercept and autopilot off at 200 feet, didn't touch a thing, plane is crazy fun! Good fun place to be as guys are making money now!

Netjets is a funny company that works for some people, for some it’s a stopover point on their way to the majors, for others it’s a career destination, some stay because they feel they are bound by “Golden” handcuffs and thus don’t want to leave due to circumstance , others generally enjoy this style of flying and are happy with the current situation as it presently stands. To each their own, the IBB passed by a huge margin, and the majority of folks on the property have faith in their union , to those in the 121 world , God bless , I loved my time in 121 both pax and cargo , the jets, the flying ,it all rocks. Right now I’m at the frac, who knows what the future will bring ? But in the meantime I’m not hating on it, YMMV indeed, cheers : )

Actually the fact it works for some of us is meant to be a good thing, I enjoy the flying, don’t mind the tours, that you see it as sad is a reflection on you amigo, it wasnt meant to be a hit on NJA , just stating the facts of it, this place isn’t meant for everyone, nor does it work for everyone, but the posters on this site , and these forums in general tend to drift negative on every topic, it’s ok, but the guys and girls (by and large ) that I fly with are a pretty happy group, and we are blessed with the best hiring outlook industry wide in a generation if anybody wants to move onward. The Golden handcuff guys, well I’ll give you that, that is sad, but some senior captains have bolted for UPS, and SWA, so fortunately the guys are able to blast if they want to. I’ve loved my career and every flying job I’ve had ( with one exception that I won’t get into here ) , I’m not hating on NJA , it’s certainly not utopia, but it’s not a miseraba either, God bless , Godspeed, if you are still among our ranks I wish the best for you, ditto if you’ve already moved on. Cheers; )

The ONLY “fun” part of this job is hand-flying one of the best corporate jets ever conceived on a ferry leg and never touching the autopilot....

Is that an SOP on the Lat ? In the mighty XL we hand fly to FL180 before turning on all the late 20th Century Magic , and hand fly a lot of approach’s when the Honeywell and the autopilot aren’t talking to each other ( again !!!) in freight hand flying was king till I got to the 400 and learned to trust the magic , even so there were times we turned everything off including the auto throttles because she was such a sweet touch .

I suppose I’m weird because I’m 121 and I hand fly to 18,000 and routinely kick off autothrust and all automation in the decent.
So Bono can afford to offset CA/FO ratios to a level that no other company does, yet can’t afford higher salaries during negotiations, that gets another mmmmmmmk.
I’ll add, that NetJets makes the nature of the business, more dynamic than it needs to be. It doesn’t have to be that complicated.

And that would be the Gulfstream! I miss that gal, enjoy every second of it. When it’s over... it’s over.

I just think it’s funny how most pilots that are putting down NEtjets lately are those that left a few years ago...... it seems you’re all still vested in this company emotionally as attested by your lingering presence on these threads. Let it go people and move on. Netjets is a changing company attempting to adapt to the changing pilot labor market by making steady improvements. As is just about every other operator out there. All your comments that allude to how it used to be to work there ring rather hollow.
Sure, 121 has its merits, especially in terms of compensation, but I for one don’t miss it that much. I’d much rather enjoy the dynamic operation here then the tedious repetition of sitting hours on end at cruise altitude and hitting the same destinations and using the same facilities over and over and over...... gotta go grab my first class seat on my flight home, and tell my family about the fun times windsurfing in Antigua this week. Sheesh this job drags you down sometimes...
Life is what you make of it.
