Airshare pilot union

This will be a place to discuss the pros and cons of starting a union at Airshare., if the pilots group even wants one. Let’s get the debate started.

How many pilots on property?

Why? Is it because of our new uniforms?

Work for idiots;

I would invite you to visit the following site:

There you will find the 39 page NMB representation manual. This manual describes the hoops you have to jump through to get a "representational election" on your property. One of the key things is getting a "showing of interest". If you are currently unrepresented then you must gather enough signatures.

19.602 If the organization or individual filing the application does not represent any of the employees covered by the application, the organization or individual must submit authorization cards from at least thirty-five (35) percent of the employees in the craft or class. If a single organization or individual represents all of the employees in a craft or class on the newly created single transportation system, an application filed by an intervening organization or individual must be supported by authorization cards from a majority (more than fifty (50) percent) of the employees in the craft or class. (See Section 3.601).

Interestingly enough, you don't have to vote for a Union or a representative to have a sufficient showing of interest, you just need to have a showing that you want to be represented. You may at that time approach the Teamsters or other organization to see if they would like to represent you.

If you are involved in this effort you need to be familiar with the NMB representational manual. It's how you get a vote on your property. You must also know exactly many pilots you have, and how to contact them.

Great idea! Not. No way that an union would work at AirShare. Even if you were able to start one and it didn’t shut the company down, it would take years to even see a slight improvement. Not worth it at all for the pilot group.

Why bother? Airshare is a peanut size company and it is for sure not a career company. Get in, get out...
