I guess just apply again in six months to show commitment?

I'm sorry you didn't pass the phone screening.

As for your question regarding receiving feedback. Like most 121/135 interview processes, there maybe isolated incidents of "buddies" asking for their friends but XO doesn't, to my knowledge XO doesn't provide formal feedback.

You are correct, applying again in 6 months is always a great option..Good luck!

Are people getting hired directly into the global? Other than the mins listed on this site, what other planets need to align to get offered the global?

,

There are actually two “types” of Globals at XOJET. There are the 5 (I think) that were added to the 135 certificate to be utilized at large. I believe those are fully staffed now and it is unlikely (IMO) that they will take new-hires before offering a slot to others in XO. There are also a couple of privately-owned Globals that XO now manages. They recently had job postings open for both seats, but I believe those are closed right now.

Bottom Line: Possible, but not likely.

How many VistaJet aircraft are US registered? What are the plans to grow that fleet?

Shrsail

These airplanes are all on the XO Ops specs as part of the XO brand. The plans are being worked out to have all CL pilots qualified on both 300 & 350 so VJ “tails( those tails with a VJ on them versus a XJ) will be flown by XOAV pilots, which all who were formerly labeled as VJ will be working under same work rules as X, CL300. Due to larger cabin pay rates and work rules, Globals have different work rules.

8 X 350
6 x Globals

There are plans/purchases planned for next 3-12 months. We, like many other 135 operators are expected to have new hire classes in our future, numbers per class will vary. I hope you will give XO another try in the future. Good luck with your choices and career.

What I’m posting below is at odds with what Pixel (not trying to call you out Pixel…my apologies brother ) but it is what is being officially advertised by XO as the mins.

The info below comes directly from the XO Careers section that states the following about hiring mins:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 1500 Total Time
  • 500 PIC
  • 500 MEL
  • 150 Instrument
  • 100 Turbine
None of that time is required to be in any aircraft that XO flies. We have had folks apply and get hired who had zero jet time also.

Obviously we have folks who are applying that have well above the mins and I don’t say that to discourage anyone from applying, just the times we live in. If interested, I’d apply as long as one meets the mins.

Hope that helps and good luck!
Sorry what i i meant was what are the flight times needed to upgrade to captain? Are they same as the ones listed which is? Or is upgrade available at 2000tt and 100 pic in type?
  • 3,000 hours fixed-wing time
  • 1,500 hours PIC
  • 1,000 hours multi-engine
  • 1,000 hours turbine time
  • 150 hours pic logged IFR
  • 150 hours flight time in previous 365

I’m within a couple years of retiring from AA and am considering my next career (former TWA, 9/11 furloughee and a late-life divorce—not trying to be a hog). XOJet sounds like a great operation (every airline/frac/charter/91 operation has warts so no rose colored glasses here).

How far before my retirement should I apply? I’ll do interview prep but are there any land mines in the phone and HR interviews I should specifically prep for? I don’t know anyone there (other than one guy, peripherally—not well enough to ask for a rec), will that put me at a disadvantage?

I flew corporate while I was furloughed (‘04-‘07) so I know the deal and I’m not afraid of long days or hard work.

Any intel is appreciated!
