depending on what flights cost … some more remote based people have been able to get a base approved if they agree to work a 15/13 but if they switch to 8/6 it might be reevaluated. Not sure if any Alaska or HI locations would be up for that but it’s worth asking the question.

edit: one of the requirements is year round scheduled airline service, I think some places with seasonal airline service still won’t qualify.

Are all sim training in DFW including the Global? Is it possible to be a FO on the Global and upgrade on the X?

No, when I was there you upgrade into the fleet you’re currently assigned. They also gave us iPads…

Do the global pilots who fly the 17/13 schedule get additional pay? Do you get crew meals or pretty much on your own for food? How is it flying with the cabin attendant, are they chill or is it like the majors?

Seems like a few XO pilots are leaving for greener pastures, does the company realize this and try to make the pay competitive?

not sure on the global. Crew meals are always an option. The Cabin Hostesses are great to work with, I haven’t had any issues, very little drama in that arena compared to other parts of the industry. We help each other out, they may get slammed with full service for a full plane, or they may have one pax who just wants to be left alone. If they can they usually try to see if we need anything up front like coffee/snacks etc … like anywhere else don’t be a jerk and it’s easy to get along.

Compensation is a topic on many internal calls but nothing firm as of yet. Time will tell.

Thanks for all the info. My kid is just starting his career and to my surprise, he prefers the corporate route.

I guess he got tired of his old man complaining about the airlines.

I see they advertise a monthly biddable flex schedule - how does that work? Line bidding or PBS? Both Global and 300? Also are upgrades seniority or based on experience, demonstrated performance? How long upgrade between Global/300? On Global, 3 pilot crews, and if so 2 PIC’s/1 SIC, or 1/2?

FLEX schedule is no longer an option. Current employees who were on flex can remain on it until a change in status (upgrade or request a different schedule). When that happens they are put on 8/6 or 15/13 and they can’t return to FLEX. IOE are put on FLEX for standard captain pairings, not sure if they have an option to retain FLEX after IOE. There are lots of fluid things as the company try’s to pivot around problems (crew shortages, supply chain issues, market demand, investor requirements)
