A very wise pilot once told me: "Never chase an airplane..... Always chase the job."

Agree with this. Got a close up look at a Longitude demonstrator recently - looked very nice up front with the Garmin and in the back for the pax. Will be interesting to see how it is positioned vs the CL350 to owners. Similar performance, similar seat count, etc.

Just read that Textron expects to deliver the 1st Longitude at the beginning of Q3 with 7 airframes expected by end of year and then many more to come.

Wonder how senior the Longitude will go...

Think you’ll see many 350 guys/gals jump over?

I left a fleet I was very senior in for one that I was really interested in flying. I was at the point where I figured a change of pace would be good, and so far, it's been a good decision. Though I'm not planning on holding any vacation I want like in the last type, I will say that being on one of the CC schedules, I am still getting the days off that I bid for each month. So even though I'm junior in fleet, so far the only drawback I've seen is in vacation bidding.

Just hoping to find the balance between flying the airframe that’ll hold my interest AND maintain a somewhat tolerable QOL.

At least I’ve got time to play with.
The XL’s will be around awhile. 🙂

Truly honestly not trying to derail the thread, but changing airframes isn’t going to get you what you seek.

Agreed. The flying won’t change much unless you get on the Global. I can understand the boredom with a single aircraft type though - flying the XL for 15+ years would get old for most people....

It still doesn't change the nature of the operation. Sure there probably is less work as far as less legs, being on the Global than on an XL, but the work rules and culture doesn't really change by fleet type there. The airplane isn't going be the bandaid that fixes the feelings the OP faces. My prior job to NJA, I flew an XLS for a 135 and it was the best 135 job I had ever had. 1 leg to Cabo, sit in an all inclusive resort for 3 days, 1 leg home, all expenses paid. I loved the XL in that environment but with NJA I would have hated the XL because the operation is totally different. I really don't think that changes with the Lat, 350, or even the Global really. Would I rather be on a Global than an XL? Yea I would, but it isn't going to make NJA not NJA anymore.

But it will most likely play a roll in FDP. While no data has been released by the union my guess is the 350 and the Latitude is doing a lot better for FDP.

Can’t argue that. I’d like to see a year of data to average before even commenting on the roll FDP plays.
