did that change recently...I was unaware of any international HBA cities.

There are no international bases at NJA. There are pilots who live in other countries and get themselves to their base one way or another, but there are no bases outside the country for us. There are pilots who live in Vancouver, Montreal, Tijuana, and even at least one who lives in Europe, but they all have to at least start their tours at a base in the continental US. They can use alternate travel to end in other places and get reimbursed for up to 90% of the price the company would have paid to get them to their regular base.

dummy tickets pick up a bunch of the guys living in cabo! Couldn't get me home the other day at the end of my 7 days as everything was sold out to my town so they said "take the airplane to your town and we will get a crew in there tomorrow to pick it up, We have the captain on a flight out of there tonight" CFamily loved coming out and seeing the plane. Can you imagine SWA letting you take an aircraft to your hometown to get you back to your family on time! Enjoy the crash pad in Baltimore!

If you think they did that out of the kindness of their heart, and not because they didn't want to pay you an after midnight, you are certifiably insane.

And spoiler alert, I take an airplane home every single time I end a trip, to my home airport. Enjoy your 3 leg RJ COMMUTE home next time.

As a lurker and fellow airline guy, I have to ask, what is your problem?

You're correct I incorrectly said SJD. It should have said SBP. (San Louis Obisbo CA)

A 3 leg ticket home is a large step towards being compensated for not being home before midnight or exceeding14 hours of duty which you have a choice in not doing.

For a NJ pilot.... This can lead to around a $2000 payment. Maybe a pic can chime in with the exact amount?

Refresh me on what airline does this if your commute falls apart on go home day? Or if you go over 14 hours of duty .... Including your commute home.

Also , you overlooked my question....

What is your definition of a commute as it applies to a pilot?

It's usually $2,800-$3,000 ish for a PIC not getting home on the last day of a trip. I know one who has had at least 4 of those in the last year. Not that failing to get home on time is a good thing...

I don't give a **** why they did it, got to show my family a cool airplane and made it home by 7 PM, you got a wired attitude, I never got paid to fly first class home when I was commuting to EWR for CAL or kept any miles that I am now taking my family to Hawaii on! Most relaxing job since I retired from the Air Force!
