There are no crew bases in Canada. If you want to commute from there, you'll have to do so on your own dime and time.
Upgrade is conservatively 10 years.

Currently, but change is constant. Upgrade times will vary considerably throughout a career.

What are "dummy" tickets?

You can ask to be released from your travel assignment home to make alternant arrangements. The company keeps the assigned mode or modes of transportation in the computer (dummy ticket) and show how much it would have cost for them to get you home as planned. In most cases you are allowed to use of to 90% of the value of their plan to set up your travel plans.

I believe he is speaking for a newhire. It could go less. Over half the seniority list will most likely retire over the next decade now that pilots are able to save enough with the over 50 catch up and increased company match and contributions through the FDP program. I would personally go to the majors or LCCs well before coming here if I were looking now, but the pay has improved quite a bit and it isn't a terrible job. You will just earn your money by working harder in most fleets that anyone at the airlines.

You can get the NJA rate now on a dummy ticket through our travel line so usually I have found this you can get close on price!
