NetJet Pilot fires for being too short?
Just saw a report on NY TV about a NetJet female pilot who claims she was fired because she was too short to fly one of their Jets. I was wondering if there was something more behind this story. Gloria Allred is her Attorney, which raises a big red flag [/IMG]

I don't know the specifics, but if she's too short she's too short. If this is true then my hat is off to the company for having the guts to put safety first. If you can't reach the controls and give them full travel, its the same as failing a checkride. Its got nothing to do with gender etc. But this likely will be played as some sort of discrimination. I don't want to be at the hands of someone who can not physically fly the plane.
In the meantime, that's my opinion until the facts come out and I find out more about it.

For sympathy. I’m sure she was a miserable new hire with a terrible attitude and probably busted training. NJA is smart enough to fire somebody and have just cause.

Not at NJ. She was a probationary new hire. Those bars are silver, not gold. Wide, not narrow. Possibly from a past job, more likely window dressing to make her look more sympathetic.
And Allred's numbers are way off. NJ has 2450 ish pilots, not 2700. And 71 of 2450 is about 2.9%. Not far off the percentage of female ATPS.
My wife was a major airline pilot and fought every inch of the way to get there so I am more sensitive than most to the inherent sexism of this industry. But this story smells to me, ESPECIALLY since Gloria Allred is involved.
