Things are happening very quickly. Stay positive. I think NJA has the ability to weather this storm better than most. I do think demand will come back rather quickly. And there is always the bank account that is Berkshire Hathaway.
In the news today some experts are beginning to say the fatality rate for COVID-19 was overestimated by ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE (Wall St Journal 3/24). Even in New York City, Governor Cuomo said positive things today.
Hopefully things will return to normal quicker than we all planned. Getting people and politicians to calm down will be difficult, but as the days pass it’s harder and harder to justify the fear if the sky remains blue and doesn’t fall.
You’ll be back doing those ACK summer hops in no time. Best wishes to us all and a return to serenity.

NJA furloughing pilots would only occur if they expect demand to be way down for more than a year. LOA's offered to 1000 of 2403 pilots. Think about the training impact of that, and Flight Safety is short staffed to the point some NJA SIC's were sent over to help out. A big enough furlough will trigger the WARN act, requiring 2 months notice. 1000 pilots would go back to late 2004/early 2005 DOH. Pilots with over 10 years of service get 4 months furlough pay. So 6 months on many pilots before they see any savings, nevermind the training cost.
I'd expect so see an American Airlines type deal where pilots can draw a percentage of pay and keep benefits and are required to remain current in the Sim so the operation could be spooled back up quickly without massive retraining.

I was really noticing that yesterday when looking more closely at the numbers. The deaths aren't adding up like Italy right around 3 per mil of pop in the US and 124 per mil in Italy. We have almost as many cases as Italy at this point. And the lions share is NYC.
It is the only good news I've seen in weeks.

That's nothing. Not that long ago, she posted that an NJ pilot colleague should literally DIE. It was quickly moderated but it actually could have been pursued with company HR as bullying and creating a hostile work environment.
She is, unfortunately, a troubled, angry, bitter woman and yet the usual suspects lionize and cover for her because of her involvement in SU back in 2005.

I know who you speak of, I am certain this was taken out of context as I read the entire original post which of course was not posted. There was acknowledgment of where the roof and food was provided... conveniently left out by folks that clearly didn't have permission to paste info from the NJ boards.
