Forgot to mention.... The company will contribute a small amount of $$ twice per year (Jan and July) into your HSA. This counts against your annual contribution limits.

For individuals, they deposit $250 twice per year or $500 twice per year for families.

Thanks jet lag. So I’m assuming the only way option 2 or 3 is preferable is if you live in an area with limited access to in network providers?

Lack of access to in-network providers would be my guess as well in addition to potential "tax-hacks" with the Option 3 HSA.

Option 1 is the most popular, but the company has changed providers every 4 or so years and then people run into issues with their preferred doctors not being in the new network so they change to option 2 with the fairly small deductible, but the ability to keep their doctors.

Does Netjets hire captains?
I am a airline retiree and am looking to do some more flying for a decent outfit. I live in the Northeast and do not want to relocate so that might be a problem. Looked at their website but didn't find much detailed info.

Thanks for any insight,
Tom

It's a Union shop -- new hires get in line at the bottom of the seniority list.

Once upon a time, during a period of explosive growth (2004 - 2006), new hires were getting Captain slots right out of training.

Those days are long gone however -- current upgrade times are over a decade.

Thanks for any insight,

Tom
Most likely you either live in or very near a base so relocation wouldn't be an issue. Starting on the bottom, most likely in a Phenom 300, Latitude, XLS, or Sovereign and having to work much harder than you are used to along with many more days of often brutal scheduling is where most airline captains realize this isn't going to be something they are going to be willing to do. Some accept it and some like it, but that isn't the case for the majority. I wish you luck if you want to give it a try, but search the threads about fractional flying and NetJets to get a better understanding of what this job is all about.

The pilots who became captains quickly were hired earlier than that. 2004 and up to mid 2005 hires took a few years. Mid 2005 and beyond took over a decade. Dead on with the seniority system.

No. You will be hired as an FO, and it will be a decade before you upgrade probably.

I was hired in spring 2005 and upgraded in late 2007. Currently with growth and attrition plan on at least 6-7 years.

Some retired part 121 Captains don't last long at NetJets once the reality of having to stock, clean, and load bags hits them. Others do fine and are great to fly with. Money is pretty good even as a new hire, and you can work crazy schedules to make lots more if you want to.
