Default NetJets lowering hiring mins

Management told the recurrent class hiring mins are being lowered to 1500 hours, 250 multi. They're also willing to look at someone without a full ATP, but if you bust your initial checkride you're out the door. Info is confirmed by Union Reps. Hiring mins on the website have not been updated yet.

I'll let others speculate on the reasons, all I read was that they felt a lot of good applicants were being left behind because of the 2500hr requirement. Think military fighter types. I've also read 1st year attrition is something like 30% so that could have something to do with it, but that is speculation which I said I wouldn't do.

I called this one. I bet they start doing training contracts in the near future as well. It’s a smart move and one they should have done a while ago. Hire pilots that aren’t competitive to leave for a few years.

The upgrade timeframe is a deterrent in my opinion. The other fractionals are advertising upgrades in less than 2 years, isn’t NETJETs like 8+?

More like a decade for a new hire.

If you want to work at a fractional I wouldn’t let that be the only deciding factor. NetJets SIC pay is equal to or better PICs at those other companies. Why do you think there are 10+ year SICs that are staying and not going elsewhere?

Because they are scared of change. There are 15 year PICs that leave to start over so it goes both ways.

The number of recent 15 year PICs that leave is not enough to be statistically significant, and in the last year all of the PICs leaving have been retiring.

Upgrade time is always a fluid thing in this business. Why go to a company with a 2 year upgrade that may not be here in 2 years? If the goal is to get quick upgrade and lots of turbine PIC, the regionals are where you should head.

If a pilot wants to fly fractional, there’s really only one career choice and right now, and upgrade is longer than the rest because attrition isn’t high like other choices... likely for a reason (it’s worth it being at NetJets).

min the time it takes to upgrade l, you’ll get to fly 2-3 other frames including the Global 7500... Longitudes, Latitudes, Challengers and everyone’s favorite... The Phenom.

The CBA prevents a training contract. Also, on probation the CBA allows for 2 attempts to passing your check ride. However, a "not to recommend for checkride" counts as 1 fail.

I wouldn’t say it significant in numbers either. However, factoring in career aviation jobs, and NJA being considered as such makes the fact that 15 year captains are leaving to be an FO at an airline, is in fact significant. It doesn’t happen like that at the airlines. I think FO attrition and especially new hire attrition will always be higher. Hiring FOs with low time and retired airline pilots is a smart move for NJA if they want to get their money’s worth so to speak. Certainly doesn’t guarantee they will stick around, but the amount of new hires that leave within 2 years is significant in number.
