It could be different now but when I went through in 2019 you were assigned aircraft a week or so prior to indoc beginning. Schedule I believe can be chosen to your liking (8/6, doubles, or the flex schedule). Seniority after that point will play a part in the days of the year you want to work/have off. Hope this helps!

Airplane assignments (300 or X) have been made in the past during indoc and before your first day on the property. Im not sure why the difference in procedures. For me it was before I showed up.
I would say the trend from. Talking to more recent hires this appears to be more the norm than waiting until indoc.
You can pick either an 8/6, 15/13 (doubles) or Flex schedule from day one. The question regarding the first two options is what day of the week one starts (Tues or Wed) and which week of the month do you start, 1st or 2nd.
For example, a Tuesday "A" schedule would begin on 6 April, first Tuesday of the month...Tuesday "B" begins on 13th..same concept for the Wed flyers and/or double flyers. Hope that is clear. We bid once a year for the schedule and new hires would most likely fill in where the most need is but each quarter a new bid is offered for those who wish to try to change their schedule...no guarantee you will get a new or better schedule however.

1. 15/13
2. Flex 18
The flex 18 allows you to bid for 3 blocks of days off of varying length. Total of 18 days working and 12 off in a 30 day month

I imagine weekends off go to senior people in the Flex 18. 15/13 sounds rough. Can anyone comment on what that schedule is like?

I'm normally on an 8/6, but did a 15/13 one time when a crew member on the opposite rotation needed a particular weekend off. It was not something I (or the wife) would want to do on a regular basis. Some folks take advantage of it in various ways (like far flung vacations during their two weeks off), so it depends on your individual circumstances.
Also, anyone applying to XOJET now should ask a LOT of questions of the recruiting staff. I hear the pay, schedule options, and vacation accrual may not match what current XOJET pilots get...or what is posted on the APC Airline Profile.

I applied to them a few years ago while chatting to a recruiter. I’m still puzzled to this day on their secret algorithm to say “yay or nay” to an applicant based strictly where they live. For example several others myself included lived near and within an hours drive of main airports with several flights out per day yet we got the TBNT. However some who happened to live near a few remote airports out west with only a handful of flights a day got the thumbs up. I’ve heard of a few similar stories from guys out east as well. I’ve even heard a rumor that they have a map of the US with parts of the country circled in color pencil with three different colors noting where pilots can, maybe or can’t live. Again that’s just a rumor I have no facts to back that up.
Looking back on XO today I honestly think I dodged a bullet...
