FXAir? New charter ops related to Flexjet

Interesting article. I imagine going after some of Vistajet’s ad hoc charter business. Will current Flex pilots continue to fly these airplanes (both fractional and FX Air customers interchangeably) or will they have separate and dedicated pilots?

Talking to a person on property, it will be Flex crews and planes.

Sounds desperate.

Not so much, they just found that they could make more money on charter by brokering the charter and flying it in house. Sort of a double dip. There is probably some tax advantage to showing expenses in one column or another too. From the pilot perspective, if it results in no layoffs, it must be good.

Wonder how the “owners” will feel when their planes are beat and worthless after adding charter on it in addition to their flying.

The planes used in FXair are the older retired phenoms and challengers. None of the current red label fleet or newer phenoms. I’d probably do a little more research before posting.

So they are pulling planes out of retirement? And the planes aren’t also being sold for fractional shares? I know how it works, but those details don’t exists if they are out right owned by flex and not part of the fractional fleet too.

Strikes me as a way to utilize unencumbered aircraft, fly otherwise idle crews, invade the charter market that is busy because of the borderline rich who are avoiding Covid Cathy on the airlines, and create an in-house overflow carrier for when things get busier on the fractional side. Might not be a half-bad idea.

Then again, Kenn has proven himself to be pretty good with smoke and mirrors...

Needed to take $60 million in taxpayers money to make payroll and now this. Not going well there I believe.

More like $84 million but it's government money so who's counting...?
